ONE ON ONE COACHING
« Start changing within you what you wish to change around you » - Gandhi
This option1 is part of a process that usually lasts several months and gives the client the opportunity to take a pause to reflect on things, put them into perspective, question things, and reposition himself, be validated and challenged in order to reach initial goals. At the beginning of this process, each client receives a coaching kit. This kit contains certified tools and coaching questionnaires that will help identify the client’s natural profile and pinpoint the needs, stakes and objectives that should be taken into consideration throughout the process.
My work method:
- Step 1: Evaluation of needs and assessment
In a coaching process and relationship, it is important to determine whether I am a good resource for you, i.e. whether I offer the services that you really need and whether I am the best coach for you. It is also essential that we have the right chemistry between us and that you feel that I can help you reach your goals.
To verify this, I usually start by an initial evaluation of your needs and a complete assessment of your current situation in order to pinpoint what the next steps would be for you and whether a coaching process is truly the solution that you need. This process is done via the coaching questionnaires that you must fill out and that will help you to clarify and identify your true needs and goals. It is also the occasion for you to experience a preview of my coaching style and of what I can do for you.
There are no obligations at this point and you do not have to continue working with me or invest in a coaching process if you feel that this is not the ideal solution for you at this moment. You will come out of this meeting with clarity, an action plan, resources, new energy and knowledge about what a coaching process represents.
Length of the 1st meeting: 2h00
Rates: $300+taxes – including questionnaires and analysis - Step 2: Individual Coaching Process
The coaching process is based on a monthly package rate. This means that the process is continuous over a period of time but on a monthly basis vs. hourly or weekly. This creates a momentum and produces consistency and rhythm that helps maximize the coaching process and reach set goals even after the coaching process is over.
This monthly package includes:- A coaching kit that includes certified coaching tools and questionnaires that will help identify needs, stakes, challenges and goals that should be taken into consideration throughout the process.
- Two 45-minute to 1-hour telephone sessions: one during the first week of the month and the second during the third week.
- Unlimited “laser” sessions between pre-determined regular sessions : 10- to 15-minute sessions for when the client feels the need to contact the coach without waiting for the next session (for example, to validate a decision that needs to be made, or in case the client is having difficulty taking action in a particular situation). These exchanges can be done via telephone or e-mail.
- Preparation for the sessions by the coach and the client.
- A series of questionnaires, evaluations, coaching tools and resources that support and facilitate the client’s process while considering his needs.
- Punctual evaluations designed to recognize good moves and highlight what works well and what may hinder or prevent the client from reaching set goals or obtaining desired results.
In essence and following its philosophy and dedication to producing desired results, please be aware that 90% of the time, coaching is done via telephone sessions lasting 45 minutes to 1 hour at a frequency of 2 sessions per month. Face to face sessions will take place at the very beginning or during strategic moments in the process and are usually agreed upon by the coach and the client.
It is proven that the anonymous aspect of telephone conversations limits human filters and/or perceptions (either conscious or not) that are present when faced with an expert or professional. Clients do not feel the need to “perform” when they are speaking with their coach over the telephone and they are not distracted or hindered by the fear of non-verbal messages or by the coach’s physical presence. In this situation, clients will feel more open and free to truly be themselves, be completely honest with themselves and with their coach, which in turn makes it easier to get to the heart of the situation and reach desired goals faster.
Managers are very busy people who are usually dealing with a full schedule and will greatly appreciate not to have to travel to the meeting with their coach. All they need is a closed office to ensure confidentiality, time to prepare for their session, and a telephone.
What we can expect from each other…
I expect clients to come prepared for their sessions. I want you to maximize each session that we will have together. Here is a list of subjects that you should prepare:
- Your successes and “wow” moments of the week
- Follow-up on requests I made
- Problems you are facing and how you think you will deal with them
- Coach’s validation and perspective of how you are dealing with a situation
- What you are working on now and how it is going
- Skills that you wish to develop
- New breakthroughs and awareness of what you have done
- Strategies that you wish to develop
- I will be unconditionally constructive.
Whatever the nature of our sessions, you can expect me to communicate with the full intention of helping you move forward and to help your objectives evolve. If you are perturbed by this, I will understand. If you feel trapped, I will be patient. If you can’t wait to share your victories with me, I will celebrate with you! I will never make you feel inadequate or criticize you. I will not complain about you or talk about you.
- I will be direct.
Yes, it is possible to be unconditionally constructive and direct. I will sometimes ask you to start, stop or modify something and I will respect your right to say no.
Ethics
I am a member of the International Coach Federation and I must honour my professional code of ethics. This means that I must keep my clients’ names as well as the content of their coaching sessions confidential. Most of my clients are comfortable in disclosing that they have a coach but unless I have their specific permission, this information will never be divulged by me.
